STATEMENT OF PURPOSE – TARI JEFFREY EKPEBU
POSITIVE IMPACT 2018
It is with great passion and enthusiasm that I humbly offer myself for election into the Council of National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) come February 2018.
NIMN at this time, needs more than ever, selfless ,vibrant, dynamic, committed and result-oriented Council members that will collaborate more appropriately towards achieving greatness in Value Creation and Sustainability; which goes to the foundation of the Institutes’ establishment.
With my vast corporate and professional experience, it’s my conviction that this is the right time for my intervention through selfless service for greater positive impact in the history of National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria.
Greatest Marketers, together we can make National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria greater still…
Therefore, I most respectfully solicit for your support and votes as we go to the polls for NIMN Council election in February, 2018.

Tari Jeffrey Ekpebu was born on July 8, 1962 and hails from Okoloba in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
He had his primary and secondary education in the then Midwest State of Nigeria (now Delta State) and Rivers State between 1968 and 1980. In 1983, he was admitted into the Rivers State University of Science & Technology (RSUST) Port-Harcourt to study Management and graduated with a Bachelor Of Science (B.Sc) degree in 1987. He also obtained a Masters Of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Marketing also from the Rivers State University Of Science & Technology(RSUST), Port-Harcourt, in 1995.
Tari started his working career in 1987 as a Management Consultant with Anpal Associates in Port-Harcourt. He left consulting to commence a very rewarding career in banking (spanning over 24 years) when he got employed in the now defunct Commercial Bank Of Africa (CBA) Limited, Port-Harcourt as a Credit and Marketing Officer in 1992. He later left CBA for the defunct Crown Merchant Bank Limited, Port-Harcourt as an Assistant Manager/Head, Credit and Marketing in 1994.
He resigned from Crown Merchant Bank Limited in 1995, and got employed in Zenith Bank Plc, Port-Harcourt as an Assistant Manager/Head, Consumer Banking. He was transferred to Warri Branch of Zenith Bank Plc in 1996 also as an Assistant Manager/Head, Consumer Banking. He became a Manager in 2000 and Branch Head of Warri Branch in 2001. Tari was promoted Senior Manager in 2002 and Assistant General Manager/Head, Warri Branch in 2004.
He was later transferred to Benin(Akpakpava Branch) in September 2004 as Head of the Branch and Deputy Zonal Head. In 2005, he was promoted Deputy General Manager/Zonal Head, Edo Zone and in 2007, General Manager/Group Zonal Head in charge of Edo/Delta States. It was during Tari’s stay in Benin as General Manager/Group Zonal Head that Zenith Bank Plc expanded its branch network in Edo/Delta States from three (3) in 2004 to twenty three (23) by 2010. Tari was again transferred to Owerri Zone of Zenith Bank Plc in August 2010 as General Manager/Group Zonal Head in charge of Imo and Abia States.
He resigned from Zenith Bank Plc in February 2014 to join United Bank For Africa Plc (UBA) in March 2014 as the Directorate Head, South, supervising the operations of over 75 branches in the six (6) South-South States of Nigeria (Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River), with offices in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. He retired from UBA Plc and banking on May 31st, 2016.
Tari is a recipient of several awards, amongst which are:
1. Zenith Bank Plc MD/CEO Award As The Most Effective Manager In The Midwestern Zone In 2003.
2. Zenith Bank Plc MD/CEO Award As One Of The Most Outstanding Leaders In 2005.
3. Zenith Bank Plc MD/CEO Award For Leadership/Mentoring In 2007.
4. Kolokuma/Opokuma Elders’ Forum Okun Award For Achievement In 2010.
5. National Institute Of Marketing Of Nigeria (NIMN) Achievers’ Award In 2011.
6. Nigerian Institute Of Management (Chartered) Presidential Award In 2014.
Tari is a Fellow, Nigerian Institute Of Management -Chartered (FNIM), Fellow, National Institute Of Marketing Of Nigeria (fnimn), Fellow, Institute Of Corporate Administration Of Nigeria (FCAI), Honorary Senior Member, The Chartered Institute Of Bankers Of Nigeria (HCIB), Fellow, The Institute Of Credit Administration (FICA). He was a Member, Governing Board, University Of Port-Harcourt Business School from February, 2015 to July, 2017; Council Member, Nigerian Institute Of Management(Chartered) from September, 2013 to November, 2017.
Presently, he is a Director, APT Logistics Services Company Limited, Managing Director, Quetar Pipeline Services Limited and Quetar Nigeria Limited.
Tari has also attended several Senior Management Courses in Nigeria and overseas and he is married and blessed with children. He loves swimming, boxing, travelling, reading, listening to jazz
